We last played Lawrence
Weston Colts back in early November. After being in front at
half time by 2-1 we finally lost the game 2-3. The second
half proved a physical battle and we came off second best.
Today we travel to Lawrence Weston looking for revenge and
taking the 3 points.
Lawrence Weston prior to
this game occupy 3rd position in the, league having played
12, won 8, drawn 2 and lost 2. They are currently on 26
points. Bradley Stoke have played 11, won 4, drawn 0 and
lost 7. We currently have 12 points.
1st Half
Bradley Stoke kicked off the game on a warm sunny afternoon.
The Lawrence Weston pitch always looks very much bigger than
most we play on. Within 1 minute Lawrence Weston had won possession
and made a direct run down the wing before crossing into the
box. Fraser quickly claimed the ball for the first time of
the afternoon.
Lawrence Weston were still pushing hard in the early stages
as they won their first corner of the game on 4 minutes.
Against the run of play, Bradley Stoke made a break from the
back. Ben released a perfect ball to James who made no
mistake as he fired the ball home for the first goal of the
afternoon. Lawrence Weston Colts 0 Bradley Stoke Utd 1.
As the minutes ticked by, Bradley Stoke looked a very good
composed side, passing well and winning back the ball when possession
was lost. On 11 minutes Ben V again placed a perfect ball
through to James on the wing. As James ran in he looked up
to strike the perfect ball into the back of the net. A great
call as Bradley Stoke established themselves early in this
game. Lawrence Weston Colts 0 Bradley Stoke 2.
Within 2 minutes a long pass by Lawrence Weston found a
striker who shot hard into the corner of the goal. Lawrence
Weston Colts 1 Bradley Stoke 2.
From this goal, both teams continued to look for the next
goal. Both teams battled but no team were able to break
through.
On 24 minutes Ollie made
way for Wesley and Will made way for Josh.
As the game continued, Bradley Stoke again picked up the
tempo and began to push Lawrence Weston back towards their
goal. On 34 minutes after a good period of play for Bradley
Stoke, Kye, Ben M and Josh all had shots at goal after a
free kick was delivered just outside the area by Fraser.
On 42 minutes, Lawrence
Weston were awarded a corner and from the cross struck the
crossbar. Bradley Stoke quickly cleared. After a very long
half the half time whistle sounded. Bradley Stoke gave a
very good performance and took the lead into the second
half. Lawrence Weston Colts 1 Bradley Stoke 2.
2nd Half
Josh made way for Will.
Mark changed the formation to 4-5-1. Lawrence Weston kicked
off the second half but the ball was quickly won by Bradley
Stoke who pushed forward.
This attack by
Bradley Stoke was short lived as Lawrence Weston won their
3rd corner of the game. Again the corner was defended well
by Bradley Stoke.
As the 10
minute mark came Bradley Stoke were beginning to up their
game but in fairness to Lawrence Weston they were strong in
their defence. Lawrence Weston had made a few tactical
changes at half time with 2 wingers stretching the play
across the 'big wide' pitch.
Within 1
minute Kye had got the ball in the back of the net but it
was judged offside by the linesman.
On 15 minutes
Bradley Stoke were awarded a freekick just outside the both.
Will and James Clayton stood over the ball. As Will jumped
over the ball, James delivered a perfect shot just over the
crossbar. Within 4 minutes more good build up by Ben V and
Will saw the ball go to James whose shot was just over the
bar.
On 21 minutes Lawrence
Weston again picked up the tempo after a good period of play
by Bradley Stoke. Lawrence Weston won another couple of
corners but again the defence stood tall.
On 24 minutes there
was another great run down the wing by James who took the
ball to the line before crossing into the box. As Kye ran
into the box his connection was out by inches to deny our
3rd goal of the afternoon.
With 9 minutes to go,
Lawrence Weston pushed forward again, splitting both the
midfield and defence down the middle before firing home for
their second of the afternoon. Lawrence Weston 2 Bradley
Stoke 2.
As Bradley Stoke looked
for the winning goal they were awarded a corner in the 34th
minute. Ben M again produced a perfect ball onto the head of
Joe C whose header went just wide.
As Lawrence Weston broke
out after this corner the ball found its way to the
midfielders who ran towards our goal. A surge of red
shirts outnumbered a few lonely white shirts of Bradley
Stoke. Lawrence Weston twisted and turned and fired home for
their third of the afternoon. Lawrence Weston 3 Bradley
Stoke 2.
37th minute James was
replaced by Josh who picked up an injury after a
tackle.
On 38 minutes a moment
of magic as the Lawrence Weston winger picked up a loose
ball and ran to the centre of the pitch just outside the
box. He shot hard and the ball floated over the heads of the
defenders and Fraser and in to the back of the net. Lawrence
Weston 4 Bradley Stoke 2.
In the dying minutes
Josh shot just wide but the game was now over. Heads were
down and the final whistle was sounded. Despite the result
Bradley Stoke played some very good football at times.
Certainly the scoreline was very flattering to Lawrence
Weston who in the end simply took their chances. Heads up,
lets look to the next game. Final score Lawrence Weston 4
Bradley Stoke 2.
