A break from League
Football this week as we entertain Tredworth Tigers in a cup
match. Tredworth Tigers play in the Gloucester Youth
Association Football League. They are currently in 2nd place
in the Under 15B League. As of the 4th November they have
played 5 games, winning 4 and drawing 1. Cup games can
sometimes be different from league games giving the Managers
a chance to experiment with formation and players. Today's
game is being played at our old ground at Patchway High
School.
1st Half
After a delayed start due to the late arrival of Tredworth
and the two minute silence for 11th November the game
finally kicked off at 2.30pm. Tredworth Tigers brought the
game to a start.
Within 1 minute Tredworth had pushed forward winning their
first corner of the afternoon. The early pressure continued
by Tredworth and Fraser made a great save on 3
minutes.
Tredworth continued to control the the game although Bradley
Stoke made the odd break. Fraser again made a good save on 7
minutes following a freekick that was looped in from the
left.
On 11 minutes a shot by Tredworth well outside the box on
the right was thundered high into the back of the net.
Bradley Stoke 0 Tredworth Tigers 1.
Within 3 minutes, Tredworth won another corner. It was
perfectly delivered into the box for a free header into the
back of the net. Bradley Stoke 0 Tredworth Tigers 2.
As we headed towards the 18th minute, Tredworth were well in
control. They passed the ball well and always seemed to have
an extra man eager to take the ball.
Within 2 minutes Bradley
Stoke broke but again the keeper was able to claim. He
kicked the ball high down the pitch towards our goal. As the
ball bounced it seems to cause some confusion and the ball
trickled into the back of the net. Bradley Stoke 0 Tredworth
3.
Tredworth continued to push forward, using the simple ball
to find the man. Within 5 minutes another simple build up
saw the ball again pushed into the back of the net. Bradley
Stoke 0 Tredwoth 4.
Bradley Stoke began to
up the work rate and win balls. James S sent Joe C on the
run on the 28th minute. The final shot by Joe went just
wide. Within 1 minute James S again broke though but his
shot was saved.
On 32 minutes Bradley Stoke were still looking for
their first goal and again James C and James S were linking
up well with Joe.
On 35 minutes
Tredworth broke through and found themselves one on one with
Fraser. Fraser stood strong narrowing the angle as the shot
went just wide.
Within 1 minute, David
was alleged by the referee to have fouled the Tredworth
striker in our box. A penalty was awarded but with Fraser on
his current form, he dived right and made a fine save. The
referee brought the first half to a conclusion. Bradley
Stoke 0 Tredworth 4.
2nd Half
Josh, Kieran and Dave all
made way for Will, Ben M and Sam
Bradley Stoke
kicked off the 2nd half and the early minutes saw both teams
starting off very strong with most of the action in the
centre of the pitch.
As we
approached the 9th minute, Tredworth began to pick up the
pace but this was equally matched by the defence of Bradley
Stoke.
On 11 minutes
Bradley Stoke were awarded a freekick just outside the box.
Will supplied a perfect cross to the back post onto the head
of James C who saw his shot saved for a corner.
Within 4
minutes, Fraser was again called upon to push over another
shot by Tredworth to earn them their 12th corner of the
afternoon.
The pressure
continued and within 2 minutes Tredworth's shot went just
the wrong side of our post.
On 18 minutes, Ben
M broke down the wing before shooting towards goal. The
keeper saved as the ball came back out for James S to have
another go. Again their keeper managed to keep his clean
sheet for the afternoon.
With Bradley Stoke again beginning to believe in themselves
Will was unlucky to see his shot hit the post on 23 minutes.
As the keeper picked up the ball he cleared the ball up the
field. Again, Tredworth were quick and broke with extra men
running wide splitting our defence. A simple goal then
followed. Bradley Stoke 0 Tredworth Tigers 5.
Bradley Stoke again began to pick themselves up and some
good play was being created with Ben M, James C and Will.
This was finally rewarded on 30 minutes when again these
three were involved with Will finally finding the back of
the net. Bradley Stoke 1 Tredwoth Tigers 5.
Bradley Stoke continued
to play some good football and at times were matching
Tredworth ball for ball. However, on 36 minutes Tredworth
again found a way through scoring their 6th goal of the
afternoon. Bradley Stoke 1 Tredworth Tigers 6.
Within 1 minute the
Tigers were 'preying' again but fortunately the crossbar
saved a further goal. The referee brought the game to a
close shortly afterwards. Without doubt Tredworth Tigers
were a well organised, simple ball playing team. They also
were very verbal with each other talking and encouraging
each other. Bradley Stoke also at times today played very
well and certainly had a much better attitude towards the
game then last week. Well done to the Tigers who
simply had the best 'roar' today. Bradley Stoke 1
Tredworth Tigers 6.
