We travel away today to
AEK Boco for our last game of the season. Despite being the
last game, Bradley Stoke will want to win this to push
themselves one place up the table into 6th place. If AEK
Boco win or draw they will move into either 6th or 7th
place. AEK Boco have played 17, won 5, drawn 2 and lost 10.
Bradley Stoke have played 17, won 6, drawn none and lost
11.
1st Half
AEK Boco kicked off on a cold but dry afternoon. As the
early minutes passed both teams struggled to get into a
pattern. AEK were the first to break through after 2 minutes
seeing their shot go over the bar.
With very little to report both teams continued to try and
find a way to break the deadlock. On 10 minutes AEK won the
first corner of the afternoon which was easily cleared by
the Bradkey Stoke defence.
As the game progressed both teams were still battling and
again AEK were closest on 12 minutes as again their shot
went over the bar.
20 minutes Ben V was replaced by Matt. A change of formation
took place as Bradley Stoke looked for their first goal of
the afternoon.
Bradley Stoke entered a period where they began to run the
play. A further substitution took place on 29 minutes with
Ben M being replaced by Josh.
As we headed towards the half time whistle with still very
little to report. Bradley Stokes best move came in the 41st
minute. James, deep in our half, glided a perfect ball to
Matt who was running for goal. Matt battled hard with the
AEK defender shooting just wide. The half time whistle was
sounded after a very uneventful first half.
2nd Half
Bradley Stoke kicked
off the 2nd half with Wes and Josh making way for the two
Bens.
With 5 minutes
gone and very little action, AEK Boco were awarded a corner.
As the ball was delivered in a player ran in heading the
ball into the back of the net. A very well taken goal giving
AEK the lead. AEK Boco 1 Bradley Stoke 0.
Within 2
minutes AEK again had a shot well outside the box but the
ball was collected into the safe hands of Fraser.
Kieran came on
for Ben M in the 8th minute.
Bradley Stoke
continued to look for the equilizer with some good build up
play in the 9th minute between Joe C, James S and Matt were unlucky
not to get the reward they deserved.
We then entered a period
where very little reporting was needed as I simply did not
have anything to write. On 20 minutes Joe C was replaced by
Josh.
On 21 minutes Fraser
pulled out a fantastic save pushing the ball over the bar
for AEK's 7th corner of the game. Within 5 minutes Fraser
had to be called on again to stop AEK increasing their score
line further.
Following this, Bradley
Stoke picked up their game and began again to take control.
James S was unlucky not to get on the score sheet on the
30th minute after battling through the defence. As we
started to count the final minutes down, Bradley Stoke won a
few corners but unable to get that final ball into the back
of the net.
The referee called the
final whistle and the final game of the season had ended.
AEK Boco 1 Bradley Stoke 0.
And finally.....
Firstly, on behalf of
all the players and parents we would like to say a huge
thank you to Mark Tozer for guiding the club this season. It
is without doubt Mark's commitment and encouragement to the
club is unquestionable so a very big 'THANK YOU. Thanks also
to Ken, Paul P and Mark S for being very active behind the
scenes throughout the season.
Thanks also to every
squad member for giving us all something to cheer about this
season. Each of you has represented Bradley Stoke and you
have done so brilliantly. Have a great summer and let's look
forward to the 2008/09 season.
This is also my final
match report as my pen has finally dried up.
